We were able to get a 7am ride up to the pass thanks to the very friendly owner of the High Country Market. I think if I had the opportunity to live in Colorado, I would choose Lake City. Anyway, we got started by 8am and I have to confess that my head was not in a good place. You see, I spoke with two little girls on the phone last night and as a result, I was missing them terribly today. The afternoon thunderstorm didn’t help my frame of mind either. Thank goodness the sun came out around 4:30 and I started to reel in my thoughts. I am in a much better state of mind now.
We ran into some guides for a young life group. I enjoyed talking with them briefly. We even had a Friendswood connection. If it hadn’t only been 17 for the day, I might have tried to camp near them. That is if I could have gotten Cloudbuster to go for it.
