Not too difficult day primarily on ATV roads over two passes. There were some steep sections but for the most part, they were easy hiking. As Coyote has been fond of saying, it was no La Coulotte. Today I was especially grateful to be out here. We came a into an opening with lovely pines, green grasses, blue skies, and white puffy clouds. I got that familiar long distance hiking feeling of being at home. I couldn’t help comparing my current surroundings with my normal circumstances for that time of day. So thankful to not be sitting in front of a computer screen under florescent lights. Which led to my next moment of thankfulness … I have the best employers in the world. The fact that they allow me to do this is so unusual. Thank you Rick and Jerry.
This campsite is fantastic. Just beyond a huge boulder field and at the base of a massive mountain wall.

Wolf tracks

Haven’t taken any pictures of grizzly poo, but it is everywhere.

  1. Good to see that you are back out again. I did another 200 miles of the AZT in March, hoping to go back to finish the final 300 miles or so this fall.
