Thank you David and Shirley

What a beautiful day! Backtrack, Coyote, Shroomer and I tagged the border today and then chilled in the hotel room. The trails open tomorrow, so it just made sense to stay an extra day.

This little hike was just what I needed. All of my pre-hike jitters were washed away by a few trail miles … and it didn’t even rain. Within those first few miles the feeling of being at home came back and I remembered that this is what I was made for.

Shroomer and I reminisced much of the way to and from the border. Such a pleasure. On our way back we met Swami Bitter Goat who is south bounding the CDT this year. Then back in town we ran into and hung out with Brown Bag (a triple crowner) before he headed north on the GDT. He hiked the CDT in 2012, but we never met.

  1. I’ve been thinking about how to pray for you in your trip. It seems easier to think about you hiking now that your in my country and only hundreds instead of thousands of miles away lol. I am praying firstly that you have access to plenty of clean fresh water, so much in fact that you never have to say the word algae lol. That the Lord would continue to strengthen your remaining kidney especially now that you are testing it once again through your hiking. I am also praying for so much beautiful scenery that your eyes and heart will be filled and your spirit and body would be strengthened through the beauty of nature that you encounter. And lastly I pray for your safety as the virgin territory that you will traverse is home to much wildlife and I pray that they would keep their distance to the extent that you see them but not get close and personal lol. God bless you Jimmy and Lord willing I will see you in August!
