We hung out at Doc Campbell’s Post for several hours just relaxing.  Well, I’m a little ashamed to say that the WiFi was also a big incentive.   The vortex of technology is a powerful force.

Once we wrenched ourselves away from social media, email, and all those things that make me want to be out here in the first place, we headed for Little Bear Canyon.  An alternative within the Gila alternate.  I actually wanted to go the middle Gila route since I had done this before, but the others convinced me.   Am I ever glad they did.   Little Bear Canyon was interesting and beautiful (it is a slot canyon), but it feeds into a magnificent section of the Gila.  we walked in just at that magic hour in the evening when everything is golden and all three of us were literally awestruck.  The feeling I have is that I am in a natural cathedral.  Better than any made by human hands.   How blessed I am to be sleeping under the stars, a brilliant moon, and surrounded by such beauty.

“I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
